abilities: Lex is basically a normal human for the most part. He doesn't have any super powers. He has some various skill sets but his biggest ability is simply: he's really, really smart.
personality: Lex Luthor is a narcissist consumed by obsession if not paranoia for a man called Superman. He considers himself above most people due to his intelligence. This is partly why he despises those with superman abilities so much, they represent something he cannot have. They hold something he could never hope to achieve.
He’s twisted all his feelings into believing he’s saving humanity from being held back. That progress will somehow cease if people with super powers are around to rescue them. This has turned into an obsession with destroying both Superman and metahumans alike to a point where he puts people around him (and the planet itself) into danger.
All of this combined with a hotheadedness makes him rash in his choices, causing him to make decisions that borderline on psychotic. He’ll lose his temper when faced with ultimate failure and look for someone else to blame as he’s unable to see his own faults – especially in his plans.
Though he’s filled with so much arrogance, he does admit that super-powered people, especially Superman scare him to some degree which fuels his paranoia. He knows those with super strength, speed, etc could easily kill him so he tries to use his intelligence to get them first or build things to protect himself. Which he goes overboard in doing. (Creating an army or a pocket universe that he can use as a prison).
With that said, he can show kindness or some form of caring towards others when his obsession with murdering Superman isn’t getting in the way. He will congratulate those who work for him when things go well – and flip out when they go bad, but that’s just his ego and pride exploding at failure.

Intelligence - Lex is considered one of the smartest people in the world. He's not only a scientist capable of cloning individuals, but also creating beings from scratch which he did when he was younger. He also has skills in engineering and is able to create devices and other technology. All around he's just incredibly intelligent.
Businessman - He is also great at running a business and leadership. He's a billionaire who knows how to use his money for his superman obsession and keep all his business ventures up and running with no issue.
